Other drawbacks include:

Which System Wastes More Water?


Reverse osmosis wastes more water.


That is one of the biggest differences between RO and ultra filtration.


A traditional under-sink reverse osmosis system sends reject water to the drain as part of the filtration process. Newer high-efficiency RO systems waste less, but there is still usually some amount of wastewater.


Ultra filtration, on the other hand, is usually much more water-efficient because it filters water directly without constantly flushing reject water down the drain. For rural properties around Thunder Bay, this matters.
